About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Category Manager – Capital Projects to join a renown public sector organisation in the West Midlands and play a key role in delivering value-driven procurement strategies for capital expenditure (CapEx) projects. You will be responsible for managing procurement activities related to new building developments, refurbishment projects, and the ongoing management of the wider property portfolio

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement category management strategies for CapEx projects, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and value-for-money principles.
Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including tendering, contract negotiations, and supplier management, in accordance with The Procurement Act 2023
Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, and legal advisors, to deliver best-in-class procurement solutions.
Manage supplier relationships, ensuring effective performance management and contract compliance.
Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to inform procurement strategies and identify opportunities for cost savings and innovation.
Ensure that all procurement activities align with sustainability goals and social value commitments.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Proven experience in public sector procurement, OR sectors governed by similar regulations, particularly within capital projects, Capex
Strong knowledge of PCR 2015/The Procurement Act 2023 and other relevant procurement frameworks.
Experience in managing complex tendering exercises and contract negotiations.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage budgets and deliver cost-effective solutions.
CIPS qualification (or working towards it) is desirable.
