My client, a privately owned logistics provider, is looking to recruit a commercially astute Oceanfreight Pricing Co-ordinator to join its growing office in Birmingham. You will be working as part of a friendly, sociable team.
ROLE: Oceanfreight Pricing Co-ordinator
HOURS: Monday to Friday 9 am - 5.30 pm
SALARY: up to £35k plus bonus and other benefits
DUTIES OF Oceanfreight PRICING CO-ORDINATOR
- Receive customer quotations via varying methods - email / online portal etc
- To cover Oceanfreight - Imports / Exports / Cross Trade
- Negotiate rates with carriers / hauliers / suppliers and confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists, to maximise cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed timeframe
- To produce strategic tariffs when required to ensure effective workload and to ensure these tariffs are kept up to date and relevant
- Monitor carrier websites and notifications
- Engagement with oceanfreight operational teams to ensure smooth handover of secured shipments
General Skills for Oceanfreight Pricing Co-ordinator
- Industry and operational knowledge of oceanfreight - inbound, outbound, and cross trade
- An understanding of how to influence the profitability through effective pricing
- Able to cope and accustomed to working under pressure to meet fixed deadlines
- Dangerous Goods knowledge is preferable
- Strong numerical and commercial skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent usage of computer / operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise - preferable)
- Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organisation skills
- Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated
- May be required to work some overtime and/or be flexible in start/finish times (during busier times!)
