The Purchasing & Licensing Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting effective strategies for procuring goods and services in alignment with the organisation’s broader objectives and goals. This role will oversee the Procurement Team, managing all responsibilities related to Purchasing, Sales Support and Contract Renewals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the business in securing the best value for money, service quality, and standards when working with vendors and partners.
- Develop and implement a framework for managing and optimising the cost base.
- Drive cost optimisation for software licences, including Microsoft (SPLA, CSP, Azure), Veeam, VMware, Halcyon, MIMIX, and others.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and lead manager for all software licences across the organisation.
- Support the business in forecasting and planning supply needs.
- Ensure that vendors meet required standards, including ISO accreditation and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and quotations, comparing costs and specifications.
- Oversee contract reviews with suppliers and vendors on behalf of the organisation.
- Focus on the commercial aspects of contracts, ensuring alignment with client agreements (e.g., back-to-back terms).
- Develop a preferred supplier list to maximise economies of scale.
- Participate in SLA, service, and deal reviews.
- Conduct proactive cost validation and regular reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review renewal contracts (both internal and external) and harmonise where possible.
- Enhance controls, processes (data access and reporting), and governance across the business.
- Manage and optimise the organisation’s cost base.
- Lead continuous procurement transformation, delivering positive, progressive commercial results.
- Streamline and harmonise procurement processes.
- Foster strong, lasting relationships with internal stakeholders and key industry partners.
- Leverage experience in contract management and negotiation within an IT managed services environment.
- Identify and evaluate cost-reduction opportunities through regular reviews.
- Collaborate with vendor auditors as needed.
- Support the customer commercial team with relevant insights.
- Work collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge, coaching, and supporting the development of both the team and the wider organisation.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in the company’s systems, processes, and controls, always looking for ways to improve them for the benefit of the business.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Extensive experience across various IT sub-categories, including but not limited to software, licensing, hardware, infrastructure, and cloud services.
- Proven track record in procurement transformation, with a history of success within IT or professional services businesses.
- Solid background in software licensing and compliance within an IT-managed services environment.
- MCIPS qualified.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Professional appearance, courteous, and consistently maintains a constructive attitude in all work-related matters.
