Excellent Opportunity for a Transport Co-Ordinator to join an Internationally recognised Air Freight and SameDay Distribution Service.

Role Summary: To assist in organising, directing and co-ordinating the activities of all Drivers and the resources necessary for the safe, efficient, and economic movement of freight through the distribution system. To work with the transport and warehouse teams in providing effective and efficient management of the Birmingham Depot. In addition to the role, quoting nationally and handling bookings via the Haulier Exchange platform maximising revenue for the business.

Mon-Fri 09.00 - 18.30pm (45 Hours Per Week) c£28,500

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a list of the main duties of the role and should not be considered an exhaustive list of duties.

  • Answering inbound telephone calls quickly and efficiently.
  • Receiving telephone and email instructions from clients and recording relevant details accurately on the Company’s data management system.
  • Maintaining customer service levels at the highest standard by ensuring a rapid response to their requirements.
  • Dealing with telephone inquiries from Drivers and customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the service and reporting these to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensuring that the service provided meets objectives and quality standards of the Company.
  • Planning optimum utilisation of all Drivers & Independent Service Providers (ISP’s).
  • Ensuring that regulations regarding hours of work, the operational safety and efficiency of Company and vehicles and other statutory regulations are complied with.
  • Daily Driver debriefing.
  • Assisting when required in the induction and appropriate training of individuals.
  • Ensuring accurate storage and prompt retrieval of information.
  • Ensuring individuals, teams, colleagues, managers and clients are advised of appropriate information.
  • Monitoring the Sameday mailbox and quoting nationally, following the process through to ensure we secure the booking, liaise and forward all information to the handling depot.
  • Processing Sameday requests for customers and depots on the Haulier Exchange portal, monitoring the costs at all times.

Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of solid working experience in a logistics / warehousing environment.
  • Experience with client and Driver support.
  • Must have excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Must have knowledge of route planning manually.
  • Must have good knowledge of vehicle capacity / load requirements.
  • Working knowledge of EU Driver hours Regulations.
  • In depth knowledge of courier requirements.
  • Knowledge of Aviation Security.
  • Ability to work under pressure in busy fast-paced environment
