Your new companyHays are delighted to be working alongside a local housing association in the Birmingham area in recruiting a Senior/Head Building Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is a key position within the organisation's building and disrepair function.Your new roleWithin your new role you will lead and manage a team of surveyors to ensure a first-class repairs service for their tenants. You will be required to:

  • Manage and develop your team of surveyors specialising in disrepair and damp & mould.
  • Ensure all work delivered by your team is compliant with current housing legislation.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard to ensure tenant/customer satisfaction.
  • Regular engagement within your team to include 1-2-1's, coaching and mentorship.
  • Conduct surveys where necessary, particularly in complex cases.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of sector and legislative changes.
  • Manage a robust reporting system.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure works are completed to the right standards.
  • Manage budget and control costs related to projects.

This role is based in Birmingham with hybrid flexibility offered to the successful applicant.What you'll need to succeedIn order to succeed in this role you will be a Qualified/Chartered Surveyor (MCIOB, MRICS tec) with extensive post-qualification experience, particularly in disrepair and damp & mould, within a similar sector/environment. You will be a confident surveyor, with in-depth knowledge of housing regulations/legislation including the Homes Act 2018, the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, and Awaab's Law. You will be able to call upon previous supervisory/management of surveyors and also overseeing various contractors. You will strive for continuous improvement and be dedicated to the organisation's goals.VISA sponsorship will not be offered and candidates require the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
