Surveyor (Electrical Networks)
Covering the Black Country / Birmingham / Worcester

Competitive Salary + company van + bonus
Monday-Friday 7-5 (overtime and weekend work available)

Our client is a thriving and in-demand civil engineering and utilities family business operating nationally. They provide a range of utility and civil engineering services. Established for more than 40 years, they are framework partners with several major household utility providers and property developers. The business is rapidly expanding with their head office based in the Black Country. They are passionate about bringing new talent into the business and support their staff’s growing development. They are now looking for a Surveyor to join the team. 

Role Overview:

The role of Surveyor within Utility De-Looping will be responsible for overseeing and conducting surveys related to the de-looping process of pipelines and systems within the civil engineering sector. This role involves accurately mapping, measuring, and evaluating the current status of loops, ensuring that all measurements meet the necessary standards and specifications. The surveyor will work closely with project managers, engineers and other stake holders to provide data and recommendations that support the safe and efficient de-looping process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain addresses that highlight de-looping works to be completed.
  • Assess each individual address to understand the requirements to fulfil the de-looping task successfully.
  • Create, divide and maintain list of projects into geographical areas.
  • Record and document each assessment completed.
  • Full and clear scope of works needs to be briefed to customers to ensure they have a clear understanding of the works to be completed.
  • Obtain written consent from customers to allow works to progress on their property.
  • Once operational dates are known, Streetworks permits are to be requested ensuring the customer is aware of the upcoming programme of works.
  • Attend and participate in weekly planning meetings.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly progress report to Project Manager, ensuring accuracy and completion in a timely manner.
  • Attend mandatory training courses as defined within the company training matrix. 
  • Keep up to date with legislation and record ‘Continued Professional Development’ (CPD).

Key Requirements:

  • Experienced Surveyor within Electrical Networks, Telecoms, Utilities or similar is essential for the role
  • Electrical networks and As-Laid knowledge is essential
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • GCSE’s Grade 9-4 or equivalent.
  • SWQR CARD
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, with a ‘can do’ attitude without compromising safety and/or compliance. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, and agencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with managers and stakeholders at all levels within a business.
