Role Title: Sustainability Analyst
Duration: contract to run until 30/11/2025
Location: Sheffield / Birmingham 60% onsite 40% remote

Key Skills/ requirements

Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends and how they link to business value.
  • Experience working on sustainability projects
  • Appreciation of technology sector, better still infrastructure technology
  • Proven experience using GHG accounting and net zero transition principles, including PCF and LCA
  • Understanding of energy modelling and performance analysis
  • Experience of identifying and working through problems, using design thinking principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Practical mindset to assess situations and reach conclusions objectively
  • Working with datasets and ability to synthesis and interpret into meaningful and material conclusions
  • Developing and writing powerful narratives on environmental and sustainability issues
  • Experience of interacting with stakeholders across a broad range of business areas.
  • Knowledge and experience of business and/or technical strategy and operations, with either a strong background and/or experience in the field of ESG integration strategy, decarbonization and energy transition, circular economy, environmental management


Key accountabilities include:

  • Identify detailed requirements and pathways for the priority CTO infrastructure sustainability programmes through stakeholder engagement and data analysis
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative inputs to understand the functions business impact's and prepare recommendations for improvement
  • Develop proposals and get buy-in from Technology SMEs on our net zero goals and approach
  • Work with stakeholders from across the business to help craft robust and innovative solutions to business problems
  • Help conduct sustainability assessments of the technology function's operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create comprehensive and informative project documentation
  • Develop and maintain sustainability metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Establish partnerships with external organizations to leverage expertise and resources in sustainability initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with sustainability trends, best practices, and regulations to ensure that the technology function is always aligned with the latest sustainability developments.
  • As required, collaborate with other departments within the bank to ensure alignment with the bank's overall sustainability strategy (Corp Services, Sustainability, Operations)
