SMART Education is seeking dedicated and adaptable teachers to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in English, Maths, Science, and Art. This rewarding role is ideal for passionate educators committed to helping students achieve their potential.

About the Role:

As an SEN Tutor, you will work 1:1 with students in a home-based setting, either in their family home or a residential environment for Looked After Children (LAC). Teaching responsibilities will depend on the student’s individual needs, offering a blend of the national curriculum and alternative approaches to education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong rapport with students, creating a calm and positive learning environment.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support students in subjects such as English, Maths, Science, and Art, including GCSE preparation.
  • Work collaboratively with schools and other stakeholders to track and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
  • De-escalate challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Facilitate the student’s re-engagement with formal education.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with SEN students across Key Stages (11 years old to Further Education).
  • Confidence in delivering lessons both face-to-face and online.
  • Passion for supporting young people with diverse needs, including patience and adaptability.
  • Ability to teach core subjects, particularly Science, English, and Maths, with some experience in Art.
