Transport Supervisor

Hours - Days 

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transport Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the team. This role involves managing a team of  planners, a group of drivers, and a small warehouse team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Team Management: Lead and support a small team of planners/operatives, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure efficient department performance.

Resource Planning: Manage staff availability, including sickness and holiday cover, ensuring no disruption to operations.

Vehicle Utilisation: Maximise the efficient use of vehicles, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed on time and within budget.

KPI Management: Monitor and complete internal KPIs for the department. Track and manage Pallet Network KPIs, ensuring consistent performance.

Customer Service: Ensure the highest levels of customer service are delivered while maintaining profitability.

Profitability Focus: Strive to maximise profitability by effectively managing costs while maintaining operational efficiency.

Staff Development: Manage staff absences, holidays, and any disciplinary actions within the department in a professional manner.

Problem Solving: Handle any issues related to departmental operations, maintaining a calm and professional approach under pressure.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Proven experience in team management and leadership, ideally within logistics or transportation.

Strong organisational and planning skills to ensure smooth operations and high levels of efficiency.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and build strong relationships.

Cost management experience, with a focus on maximising profitability while controlling expenses.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with challenges effectively.

Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changes in business needs or unforeseen circumstances.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

 

Has a solid track record of managing small teams in a logistics or transport environment.

Is proactive in managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring customer satisfaction while keeping costs in check.

Has excellent problem-solving skills and can maintain efficiency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Is experienced with handling departmental KPIs and can identify areas for improvement and growth.
