Reed Scientific is seeking a dedicated Chemistry graduate to join our client's team in the world’s largest fragrance-only fragrance house, where creativity, innovation, and energy are focused solely on fragrances. As part of their R&D team, the Laboratory Assistant will play a crucial role in aiding with developing a wide range of consumer products and conducting various tests to ensure the fragrances meet the highest standards. This position offers a unique career path for those passionate about the chemistry industry.
Day-to-day of the role:- Conduct stability tests of fragrances and/or raw materials in various consumer products as outlined in projects and maintain daily records of required stability tests.
- Regularly assess fragrance samples (training provided).
- Prepare household and personal care bases as needed for projects (up to 10kg at any one time).
- Perform a variety of tests such as panel tests, UV tests, and viscosity tests following protocols.
- Create finished product samples.
- Cover equivalent positions during periods of absence or as required by business needs.
- Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in formulating household, laundry, or cosmetic products.
- Keen eye for detail and experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and internal recording systems.
