Are you a compassionate and experienced teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference? This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist setting supporting students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working in small classes of just five pupils.

Role Overview

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Teach and support students aged 11-16 who are working at primary levels.
  • Deliver a tailored curriculum that meets the individual needs of each student.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment to support academic, social, and emotional progress.
  • Foster strong relationships with pupils to help them overcome barriers to learning and build self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with each student's needs, adapting your approach for small group sizes.
  • Pastoral Support: Provide effective care to support emotional well-being and personal development.
  • Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour strategies to maintain a calm and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies to create a holistic support network for pupils.
Person Specification

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching children with SEMH or additional needs.
  • Suitable for teachers with a background in primary or secondary education.
  • Ability to engage students working below age-expected levels in a creative and empathetic manner.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Additional training or qualifications in SEN/SEMH (desirable).

  • Patient, caring, and committed to inclusive education.
