Dunbar Education is working with a primary school in Bishop's Stortford to recruit a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

The school we are working with are a Ofsted rated 'Good' school and hold professional training for internal progression.

We are looking for someone that has experience as a HLTA already or has the relevant qualifications & previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Education (minimum of 6 months in a UK school).

Overview of the Role:

  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver lessons across various subjects.
  • Lead small group and whole-class sessions in the teacher's absence, ensuring learning objectives are met.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with special educational needs (SEN), to help them progress and achieve their potential.
  • Assist in assessing pupil progress, giving feedback, and adapting lesson plans where necessary.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
  • Support teachers with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by supporting school events and activities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant HLTA qualification or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant with leadership responsibilities.
  • Confidence in leading lessons and working independently with pupils.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEN.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to support both teachers and pupils in achieving positive learning outcomes.
