Truck / Trailer Mechanic (based in Takeley, Essex)

Based in Takeley, Essex (near Stansted Airport) • Shift pattern: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm

We are looking for an experienced Permanent Truck Mechanic who needs to have both a good depth and breadth of knowledge of heavy motor vehicles and, preferably, will hold at least a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification or equivalent. They will be part of a small but enthusiastic, friendly, and growing team of mechanics with a focus offering excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will be great at solving problems with good verbal and written communication and a genuine pride in the work you do. With the nature of the work involved, sound training and support will be given. Our focus is to find someone with the right ‘Can Do’ attitude. Ideally you will tick all the boxes below, but for the right person, training and support will be given.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To perform vehicle maintenance or trouble shoot defects and carry out repairs as necessary. • To perform servicing and MOT preparation • Carry out occasional breakdowns using company service vans. • Strong experience that has both breadth and depth of knowledge of trucks, trailers, engines, gearboxes, axles, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnosis and be able to use diagnostic equipment. • Produce details of job on a job card, service sheet and daily time log • Communicate with supervisory staff regularly to keep them updated on the progress of your job • Be aware and responsible for Health & Safety of yourself and other employees.

Additional items: • Welding experience preferred but not essential. • Full UK Driving Licence • CE LGV Licence preferred but not essential. • Experience of crane operations preferred but not essential.
