Job Title: SEN Teacher (Non-Qualified)
Pay Rate: £24,071.90 per annum
Location: Warwickshire
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm/Permanent
Smart Education is currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher to work with students aged 11-19 in a unique outdoor learning environment. This role is ideal for a passionate individual with experience in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and helping them develop in line with their academic and pastoral targets.
About the Role:
The role involves delivering PSHE lessons in a nurturing setting designed to support small groups of students with ASC. The school follows a holistic approach, ensuring that students feel safe, valued, and emotionally engaged in their education. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating structured, engaging, and personalised lessons while building strong, trusting relationships with students.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
Incorporate outdoor learning opportunities to enhance engagement and personal development.
Use a variety of behaviour management techniques, focusing on resolution and developmental reflection.
Collaborate with professionals, parents, and carers to provide a holistic support system for students.
Assess, mark, and provide constructive feedback on students' work.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Support students in their personal and academic growth, ensuring progress is monitored and reported.
Adhere to safeguarding procedures and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Essential Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children or young people with ASC.
Strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
Empathy, resilience, and the ability to build meaningful connections with students.
Experience working in an alternative learning environment, including outdoor education.
Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) legislation and safeguarding policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Team Teach or similar safe handling qualification.
First Aid certification.
Autism Level 1 & 2 qualifications (preferred but not essential).
