They are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Darlington.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems and components for industrial machinery and equipment. This role includes leading smaller design projects, overseeing the work of junior engineers, and ensuring that designs meet all relevant standards, quality, and safety requirements.


Job Description:

1. Design and Development

- Develop and optimize mechanical designs for industrial machinery and equipment.

- Perform detailed calculations and analysis using tools such as FEA and CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

- Ensure that designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, IMCA).

- Create and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.

2. Project Management

- Lead and manage smaller projects or specific workstreams within larger projects.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and procurement to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

3. Quality Assurance

- Ensure all designs meet the required quality and safety standards.

- Develop and maintain design documentation and standards.

- Address technical issues during production and provide support for troubleshooting and problem-solving.

4. Mentorship and Training

- Mentor and support junior engineers in developing their skills and knowledge.

- Provide technical leadership within the team.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Extensive experience in mechanical design and engineering.

Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and analysis tools like Ansys.

Extensive knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME, DNV, IMCA).
