Our clientWe are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturer to recruit several new Mechanical Design Engineers who will join their team in County Durham, home to one of their manufacturing sites. They have recently won new long-term high-value contracts and are expanding their Design team to support this growth. The opportunityReporting to the Design Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:
  • Creating models and drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks
  • Responsible for the management and control of engineering drawings and document in accordance with Drawing Office standards and methods.
  • Creating drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks.
  • To compile manufacturing documentation and training and support reliability analysis and testing.
  • Management of changes through the ECN procedures.
  • Drawings according to ISO and BS standards.
  • Development of drawings for machined, punched, cast or moulded parts.
  • Investigation of new suppliers for existing and new technologies for cost reduction.
  • Investigation of new materials and processes.
  • Contribute to design reviews as part of company ISO process.
  • Review of mechanical properties of parts and assemblies (thermal, mechanical stress etc) using 3D analysis software.
  • Design of jigs and fixtures.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and improvement of existing generic process, maintenance and standards documentation.
  • Deployment of manufacturing documentation using the current systems in place.
About youThe successful candidate will have:
  • Degree (equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, with 2 + years industrial experience.
  • 2D and 3D Solid modelling experience.
  • Knowledge of machining/ casting/ moulding/ coating or plating processes 2D & 3D.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual able to interface effectively with internal & external customers.
