Sonic Summary

Our client, a leading manufacturer in County Durham, is seeking several Mechanical Design Engineers to join their expanding Design team.
The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience, with expertise in 2D and 3D Solid modelling.
Key responsibilities include creating models and drawings in Solidworks, managing engineering documentation, and contributing to design reviews.
Candidates should possess knowledge of machining, casting, moulding, and coating processes, and be motivated to work with internal and external customers.

Our clientWe are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturer to recruit several new Mechanical Design Engineers who will join their team in County Durham, home to one of their manufacturing sites. They have recently won new long-term high-value contracts and are expanding their Design team to support this growth. The opportunityReporting to the Design Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:

Creating models and drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks
Responsible for the management and control of engineering drawings and document in accordance with Drawing Office standards and methods.
Creating drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks.
To compile manufacturing documentation and training and support reliability analysis and testing.
Management of changes through the ECN procedures.
Drawings according to ISO and BS standards.
Development of drawings for machined, punched, cast or moulded parts.
Investigation of new suppliers for existing and new technologies for cost reduction.
Investigation of new materials and processes.
Contribute to design reviews as part of company ISO process.
Review of mechanical properties of parts and assemblies (thermal, mechanical stress etc) using 3D analysis software.
Design of jigs and fixtures.
Responsible for the upkeep and improvement of existing generic process, maintenance and standards documentation.
Deployment of manufacturing documentation using the current systems in place.

About youThe successful candidate will have:

Degree (equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, with 2 + years industrial experience.
2D and 3D Solid modelling experience.
Knowledge of machining/ casting/ moulding/ coating or plating processes 2D & 3D.
Must be a highly motivated individual able to interface effectively with internal & external customers.
