As a Production Supervisor you will manage the machine shop to maximise output with a key focus on proactively driving and implementing continuous improvement in a precision engineering manufacturing environment.

The job you’ll do

  • Lead, motivate and develop your team to achieve business goals, ensuring work standards are met and aligned with company policies and procedures.
  • Create a process driven culture and remove variation supporting achievement of short and medium-term goals.
  • Communicate and implement company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Drive the Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People (SQCDP) culture.
  • Implement and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Lead daily SQCDP cell meetings.
  • Proactive management of absence and performance issues.
  • Ensure full compliance to all business standards (H&S, quality and site performance).
  • Ensure incidents/accidents are captured, reported and contained with corrective actions.
  • Support in delivering business objectives.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to team members, setting clear expectations.
  • Identify poor performance and manage through performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure training and development needs are identified and met.
  • Contain faults and put corrective actions in place.
  • Understand and drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across the site.
  • Ensure constructive handover and capture of all issues is completed.
  • Practice and maintain 5S standards.
  • Ensure quality systems and procedures are being adhered to i.e. first and last off inspections, in-process checks, Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and completion of documentation.
  • Liaise with production engineers to jig and fixture design and routing amendments to ensure processes are capable of achieving drawing tolerances.
  • Support with amendments to work lists on a daily basis.
  • Promote and ensure high standards of quality at all times.
  • Drive, implement and support continuous improvements ensuring improvements are acted upon
  • Trouble shoot manufacturing problems to achieve optimal manufacturing outcome.
  • Collate and report data to identify problem areas.
  • Ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the British Engines Group Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.

About You

  • To apply, we ask that you are an experienced Production Supervisor with significant experience working in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing environment, ideally in high precision machining.
  • You will have experience managing teams in manufacturing processes, including staffing levels and machine capacity planning.
  • You will be experienced in implementing and maintaining HSE standards and able to demonstrate people management to motivate and develop your team.
  • We are looking for someone who is a strong leader, results orientated, with ability to plan and deliver against production deadlines.
  • If you can demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, positive and enthusiastic approach to adopt and implement new ideas and processes we would love to hear from you.
  • NEBOSH general certificate and six-sigma green belt qualification would be advantageous.
  • This position will be on a full time, permanent basis, and working day shift hours of 38.75 per week.
