Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Named Veterinary Surgeon(s) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain expertise in laboratory animal science and related disciplines through ongoing education and training
  • Provide veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at the facilities
  • Support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the company
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles
  • Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development
  • Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations

Job Requirements:

  • Veterinary degree with professional registration with the RCVS
  • Experience in general practice or laboratory animal care, including surgical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with research teams and provide training or guidance on animal welfare standards and procedures
  • Proficiency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to evolving challenges
