Following its acquisition by a global group this manufacturing and distribution business is poised for significant growth. Specialising in the development, production and marketing of chemicals for a variety of products they have a predominantly UK customer base and increasing sales Europe and Asia. This strategic acquisition will strengthen the parent companies position as a global market leader and opens up significant opportunities to expand their product offering and leverage cross selling capabilities.

A review of the finance department has identified the need to strengthen the team with the appointment of an experienced Financial Controller. The ideal candidate must have strong commercial awareness, coupled with experience of group reporting and a finance business partner skill set to drive profitability throughout the business. This will be the lead finance role for the site and will involve close interaction with the UK General Manager and parent company Group CFO. They are looking for a dynamic finance leader who can drive change, improve financial processes and develop analysis to drive decision making.

The Financial Controller will head up a team of four finance assistants and will lead all financial reporting, management and analysis activity. Responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of company management accounts • Develop group reporting in line with parent company timetable• Creation and submission of annual statutory accounts and tax filings.• Creation of monthly and annual reports to identify trends and variances to budgets• Quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting• Managing and forecasting cash flow • Suggesting updates and improvements for accounting systems• Ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported• Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation• Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with all regulations and management of annual audit• Review all financial plans and budgets and regularly to look for cost reduction and commercial opportunities• Analyse financial data and understand operational implications presenting concise conclusions and recommendations• Improve processes/key controls to prevent errors in reporting while driving efficiencies where possible

This role will require you to actively engage with the other members of the management team to optimise the performance of the business by appropriate support, analysis and insight using the financial data provided. Experience of Power BI or similar would be useful for this role along with knowledge of integrated ERP systems.

The preferred candidate should be comfortable operating at a senior-level with a high degree of responsibility. You must ideally be CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified with experience of another financial management role and excellent stakeholder management skills to work as a business partner with a range of people at varying levels both internally and externally. You should be proactive with a drive to improve systems, information and analysis that support business goals.
