We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity to join our education setting in Blackburn as a Governance Administrator. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the senior leadership team and governors, supporting a range of school committees and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.As part of a dedicated and professional team, you will have the chance to develop and showcase your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. This position is ideal for someone looking to start or advance their career within the education governance sector. This is a full-time interim position in Blackburn until Spring/Summer 2025. It will require some flexibility to support an occasional evening meeting. This setting also operates a hybrid working policy. We are seeking an individual with exceptional written communication and minuting skills, a keen ability to present information clearly and concisely, and the capability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines effectively.   • Support Governing Body Meetings: Organise, prepare agendas, and attend meetings to provide administrative support, take minutes, and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Advise governors on statutory responsibilities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, policies, and educational regulations.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Serve as the main point of contact between the governing body, senior leadership team, and external stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate Committee Activities: Manage the schedules, documentation, and action plans for various school committees, ensuring meetings are effective and meet governance requirements.
  • Maintain Governance Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of governance activities, including meeting minutes, decisions, and policy reviews, for audit and legal purposes.
  • Monitor and Report on Governance Activities: Track and report on governance performance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting continuous development within the governing body.

What we require for this role

  • Previous experience in an administrative or governance-related role, ideally within an educational or public sector setting.
  • Proven ability to accurately take minutes at meetings and produce clear, concise reports and documents.
  • Experience of liaising and building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior leadership teams, governors, staff, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively, with experience of coordinating meetings, managing schedules, and ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
