We are seeking Teaching Assistants to join our Special Educational Needs provision teams in both primary and secondary settings in Blackburn. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of educational needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs
- Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively
- Assist class teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities
- Support students' personal, social, and emotional development
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Record student progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals
- Experience working with children or young people (educational setting preferred)
- Understanding of SEN and inclusive education principles
- Patience, resilience, and adaptability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with challenging students
- Team player with a proactive approach
- Level 2 English and Mathematics (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
- Experience working with students with SEMH/SEND needs
- Training in de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management
