About the role:

As the Accounts Payable (AP) Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end AP process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. You will play a key role in implementing and optimising the D365 Invoice Capture and Purchase Order (PO) processes, driving efficiency and compliance across the accounts payable function. This role involves managing a team of AP professionals and working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to maintain strong relationships and ensure seamless operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the AP Process: Oversee the processing of supplier invoices, ensuring alignment with the D365 Invoice Capture and PO processes, and addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly
  • ERP System Implementation: Lead and support the adoption of Microsoft Dynamics 365, focusing on the Invoice Capture and PO functionalities, driving improvements in automation and process standardisation
  • Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, resolving queries and disputes effectively to ensure smooth business operations
  • Payments Oversight: Ensure all supplier payments are made accurately and on time, adhering to company policies and controls
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a team of AP professionals, providing guidance, performance management, and opportunities for growth
  • Process Optimisation: Continuously identify and implement improvements to streamline AP workflows, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy and compliance
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure all AP activities adhere to internal controls and external regulatory requirements
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Procurement, Finance, and other departments to align processes, resolve issues, and meet business objectives
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting on AP metrics, such as aged creditors, payment performance, and process efficiency, to senior management
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Support the Head of Finance Operations with additional tasks as required

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a similar AP management role, ideally within a retail or multi-site environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, including PO matching and invoice reconciliation
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365, and experience in Invoice Capture automation
  • Leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing teams
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders

Good To Have:

  • Experience in financial systems implementation or optimisation projects
  • Knowledge of UK VAT regulations and compliance requirements
