The Role:As an External Audit Manager, you will oversee the audit process for a range of clients, from SMEs to larger corporations. You will lead a team of auditors, ensuring that audits are completed to the highest standards, on time, and in compliance with relevant regulations. The role involves client relationship management, team leadership, and contributing to business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of audit clients, overseeing the audit process from planning to completion.
  • Leading audit teams on engagements, providing support and technical guidance.
  • Conducting risk assessments, ensuring audits are planned and executed effectively.
  • Reviewing and finalising audit reports and financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as the main point of contact for audit-related queries.
  • Managing team performance, providing training and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK auditing standards and internal quality control procedures.
  • Assisting with business development by identifying opportunities to expand the audit client base.
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments and changes in audit regulations.
  • Monitoring workflow and ensuring that all audits are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in external audit, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and UK auditing standards.
  • Proven track record of managing audit teams and leading complex audit engagements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think strategically.
  • Experience with audit software and accounting packages such as CaseWare, Xero, or similar.
