About the role:

Reporting directly to the Director of FP&A and Commercial Strategy, we are seeking a talented Finance Business Partners to join our team and lead financial analysis and strategy development for our Forecourt and Foodservice operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance business partnering and analysis, with a core accounting and finance understanding.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

    • Conduct detailed financial analysis of forecourt operations, including fuel sales, EV charging revenue, grocery, foodservice and merchandise sales and overheads (both fixed and variable).
    • Prepare comprehensive financial analysis and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Support the transition of Reporting to Power BI where possible in the near future as the business changes its data landscape and finance system

Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and both short and long-term financial forecasts for forecourt operations.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to optimise revenue generation, cost management, and profitability.
    • Track budget performance against targets and variance analysis to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.

Business Strategy and Decision Support:

    • Partner with senior management to develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and profitability in the forecourt sector.
    • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate strategic initiatives and investment opportunities.
    • Provide decision support through financial modelling, analysis, and insights to support key business decisions.

Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team, promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
    • Ensure effective resource allocation and workload management to achieve team goals and objectives.

Business Intelligence (BI) Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) team to leverage data and analytics for informed decision-making and performance monitoring.
    • Identify data requirements and develop reporting tools and dashboards to support financial analysis and reporting needs.
    • Collaborate with BI analysts to develop predictive models and data-driven insights to optimise business operations and drive competitive advantage.

Essential:

  • Qualification in Finance or related field; Chartered accountant preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting within the retail or consumer goods industry, preferably in the forecourt sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate financial analysis into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Good To Have:

  • Qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in the retail or consumer goods industry, with exposure to the forecourt sector being advantageous
  • Knowledge or exposure to Microsoft Azure, Synapse Analytics & PySpark
