Do you have a proven track record in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering outstanding results in high-value capital equipment projects?

SimWest is partnering with a growing, well-established machinery manufacturing business to find a Engineering & Design Manager.  In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll oversee a dynamic team across Design, Projects, and Electrical, blending strategic vision with hands-on technical involvement.

Your solid background in engineering design and project management will be pivotal as you lead the team to achieve impactful goals, drive improvements, and maintain the highest standards of quality.

The company operates across multiple sites in the North West, so the successful candidate will be expected to split their time between these locations and occasionally visit customer sites as needed.

As the  Engineering & Design Manager, you’ll:

  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering growth and development at all experience levels.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of new team members to build a high-performing team.
  • Oversee engineering operations, ensuring exceptional quality and excellence across design, project management, and electrical functions.
  • Effectively allocate workloads to meet deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Track and manage departmental KPIs to drive performance and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Implement engineering best practices to enhance productivity and maximise efficiency.
  • Foster strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, sales teams, and third-party manufacturers.
  • Tackle complex engineering challenges with precision, creativity, and technical expertise.
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to your team during peak periods, ensuring smooth operations.
