The Role of Electrical Estimator

You will be tendering new business across the UK with a key focus on building long-term relationships with new and existing customers whilst overseeing the quotation and tendering process through to design. 

You will be preparing tenders ranging from 11kV voltage to 33kV as they continue to expand.

Main responsibilities of the Electrical Estimator

  • Oversee projects to ensure costs remain in line with forecasts
  • Responsible for providing quotations and tenders for new connection works and turnkey projects utilising our in-house teams and supply chain
  • Support visits to prospective client sites
  • Draw up assessments of how much it will cost to provide the ICP services
  • Provide recommendations for reducing costs
  • Build and manage key relationships with new and existing customers including, top-level review with the clients, managing the flow of enquiries
  • Compile bids for work
  • Work with manufacturers to develop partnerships for a turnkey solution
  • Calculate the cost of materials, transport, labour and equipment hire
  • Obtain quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Set appropriate costs for labour
  • Follow up quotations and share feedback with the tendering and sales team for unsuccessful quotations
  • Collate detailed price lists of everything needed on each construction project and produce a cost summary
  • Clarify the client's needs and expectations
  • Read blueprints and take measurements
  • Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements
  • Keep up to date with inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs
  • Make visits to proposed construction sites
  • Present bids to clients and answer their questions
  • Complete work quality submissions
  • Will evaluate supplier and subcontract returns to ensure compliance with the tender specification/documentation
  • Accurately undertake any necessary take-offs of drawings and schedules and perform data entry into the estimating software selected by the business

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in an estimator role
  • Proficient user of Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other appropriate software packages
  • Proven experience of establishing key aspects associated with client requirements, providing quotations, liaising with internal departments and submitting final overview of project ability to the client
  • Proven experience of establishing strategic and operational partnerships
  • Proven experience within the Construction or Electrical industry
  • Proven experience of working within the ICP industry is desirable
  • Experience of tendering for O&M contracts and private networks
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Experience of tendering for O&M contracts and private networks is desirable
