Our client is a dynamic multi-office legal practice which provides a comprehensive range of legal services across the North West.

Purpose of the Role

  • Assist in the management of the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and induction through to end of employment.
  • Assist the HR department in ensuring the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan.

Key Objectives

  •  Be actively involved in recruitment and selection processes and procedures across the Practice, which would usually.
  • Identify appropriate recruitment strategies, writing/amending job descriptions, prepare interview questions and undertake interviews alongside appropriate specialist staff.
  • Assist in the induction process including the preparation of the induction programme and undertaking new starter inductions.
  • Preparation of review letters for staff salaries during the annual pay review process and provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for all staff.
  • Work with line managers to manage employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, sickness and absence and end of employment, driving resolution in line with legislation and internal policies.
  • Continuously monitor, review and update spreadsheets relating to staff working hours, salaries, absences, etc.
  • Maintenance of the HR System and electronic staff records.
  • Travel to other sites throughout the Practice will be required on an ‘as necessary’ basis.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

  • Minimum Level 3 CIPD/working towards Level 5
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff across all levels within the Practice via telephone, in writing or face to face.
  • Highly organised, have excellent attention to detail and can manage conflicting priorities.
  • Experience working directly within a business supporting it through cyclical HR activities and managing employee relations casework
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Driving licence.

  • Salary up to £30K DOE
  • 25 days holiday p.a.  ( This increases after year 3 by one day per year to a maximum of five additional days).
