MERITUS are recruiting for a Laminator Fitter to join our client in Blackburn on an initial 6 month contract to work on exciting new Aerospace projects.

LAMINATOR FITTER - INSIDE IR35 - £20 PER HOUR (VIA UMBRELLA) - 6/12 MONTHS - BLACKBURN - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

The Laminator Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and bonding composite materials to create durable, lightweight structures. This role requires working with materials such as carbon fiber and resin to manufacture components that meet precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with laminating processes and a keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare moulds and work surfaces by cleaning and applying release agents.
  • Cut, lay-up, and fit composite materials, such as carbon fiber, according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Apply resin and bonding agents to composite materials, ensuring even distribution and proper adhesion.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to assemble and fit composite components.
  • Inspect laminated parts for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and tolerances.
  • Trim, sand, and finish laminated components to achieve specified dimensions and surface finishes.
  • Collaborate with production team leaders and quality control to ensure all parts meet required specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of laminating tools and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in laminating, fitting, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of composite materials and laminating techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in laminating and fitting processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods and handling materials safely.
