Mechanical Design Engineer - Blackburn - £45,000

KO2s client, a prominent player in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team based in Blackburn. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with one day a week from home, and a competitive salary of £45,000. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work on innovative projects involving electronic enclosure design, injection moulding, and sheet metal work, all within the critical oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronic enclosures for oil and gas applications, with expertise in both 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Work on product approvals, including tolerance stacks, to meet rigorous industry standards.
  • Design ATEX approved enclosures for hazardous environments.
  • Contribute to the redesign of an established product range, introducing innovative concepts and designs.
  • Support the transition of designs into manufacturing, ensuring quality and efficiency in production.
  • Create comprehensive documentation to support the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Use your artistic and conceptual design skills to enhance functional solutions with creative flair.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Inventor, Solidworks, Autocad, Solid Edge etc).
  • Experience with injection moulding and sheet metal work in the oil and gas sector.
  • Knowledge of ATEX approved enclosures for hazardous locations.
  • Experience introducing products to manufacturing, ideally in a regulated industry like oil and gas.
  • Strong focus on product approvals and tolerance stacks in critical applications.
  • An artistic eye for conceptual designs that are both functional and visually striking.
