MERITUS are recruiting for a Laminator Fitter to join our client on an initial 12 month contract to work on advanced aerospace projects.

LAMINATOR FITTER - INSIDE IR35 - £NEG PER HOUR VIA UMBRELLA - GREATER BLACKBURN & DARWEN - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

We are seeking a skilled Laminator Fitter to handle the assembly, fitting, and bonding of composite materials, producing lightweight yet strong structures. This role requires working with materials like carbon fiber and resin to manufacture components that meet exact specifications. The ideal candidate will have a background in laminating processes and an excellent eye for detail.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Surface Preparation: Clean and apply release agents to molds and work surfaces to ensure proper bonding and release of composite materials.
  • Material Handling: Cut, lay up, and fit composite materials, such as carbon fiber, following engineering drawings and detailed work instructions.
  • Bonding Application: Evenly apply resin and bonding agents to composite layers, ensuring proper adhesion throughout the lamination process.
  • Assembly and Fitting: Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices to accurately assemble and fit composite components.
  • Quality Inspection: Examine laminated parts for defects or inconsistencies, adhering to strict quality standards and specified tolerances.
  • Finishing Work: Trim, sand, and refine laminated parts to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with production leads and quality control teams to ensure components meet all required specifications.
  • Workplace Maintenance: Keep the work area clean and organized, strictly following all safety guidelines.
  • Tool Upkeep: Assist in maintaining and servicing laminating tools and equipment to ensure efficient operation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in laminating, fitting, or similar roles within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of composite materials and lamination techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and detailed work instructions.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for laminating and fitting tasks.
