Your new company:
A leading food manufacturer based in Lancashire is the lookout for an experienced Strategic Buyer to join their team. The company offers a diverse portfolio of brands catering to both pets and wild animals. With a broad range of capabilities and global distribution channels, the company is proud to be a major supplier to the UK grocery, independent, and pet specialty sectors.

Your new role:
Cultivate innovative relationships with suppliers to support a lean, profitable supply chain.

Implement and monitor a performance scorecard to ensure alignment with business objectives, focusing on cost, quality, OTIF (On Time In Full), lead times, and more.
Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans to minimize impact.

Lead contract negotiations, conduct ongoing market analysis, and report findings to inform strategic decisions.

Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and related documentation to ensure competitive procurement.

Collate and report on cost savings against targets, tracking their impact on profitability.

Ensure accurate item costing is reflected in the Profit & Loss statement.

Drive business and industry compliance in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Conduct visits to suppliers to maintain and strengthen relationships.

Provide support during the execution of larger projects, including New Product Development (NPD) and innovation pipeline initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a procurement role within the food manufacturing industry would be an advantage

Impressive track record of cost savings

Prior contract management experience

Experienced working cross functionally with senior stakeholders

Strong analytical skills

Resilient with a proactive approach
