Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services require a Social Worker in its Children’s Advice and Duty Service (MASH) to cover a vacancy for 3 months initially.You will be an experienced Social Worker with recent experience in frontline Social Work within a local authority. The team deals with referrals in a timely manner and make prompt and effective recommendations and decisions, including whether cases progress to the Duty and Assessment service.The post holder will ensure high quality effective social work practice by supporting on the response at the front door.The Social Worker will have a genuine passion for working directly with children, young people and families.The emphasis of the post will be supporting the delivery of professional excellence within social work practice as outlined, particularly in regard to assessment, planning intervention and review.Some of the key responsibilities include:To support all team members within the Advice and Duty Service to meet performance demands - decisions within 24 hours.

To support in the development of a high standard of practice and decision making within the Advice and Duty Service.

In collaboration with the Team Manager and Advanced Social Work Practitioners, support colleagues within CADS as part of their continuous professional development.

To work collaboratively with the receiving referral and assessment teams as regards new work requiring assessments.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
