Description

Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our Children with Disabilities team in East Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with disabilities. The placement is at first between 1 to 3 months, with an immediate start. If you have substantial experience in social work, particularly with children and young people, we'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality social work services to children with disabilities and their families, ensuring that their needs are met and that they are supported to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Manage a manageable caseload, typically between 15 and 22 cases, depending on the specific function within the team.
  • Work cooperatively with other professionals and agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of care plans, ensuring that the needs of the child are central to all planning and decision-making.
  • Embrace and apply strength-based approaches in all aspects of your work, contributing to the continued development and innovation within Lancashire County Council's Children's Services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in line with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Utilise flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home, while participating in team meetings and cooperative opportunities as needed.
  • Adhere to all relevant legal, ethical, and professional standards in social work practice.
Requirements
  • Must hold a relevant social work degree qualification.
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience working with children and young people, preferably within the field of disabilities.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Access to own car and full UK driving license.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with disabilities and their families, with the ability to provide empathetic and effective support.
