Reed are supporting Blackpool Council's recruitment to a Senior Occupational Health Nurse position based within the Council's dedicated Occupational Health team in the heart of Blackpool, close to all transport links.

The Council are seeking a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser to enhance workplace health across the organisation. This role is ideal for an experienced OH Nurse Advisor, seeking a significant role in OH management and policy development, or a OH Advisor looking for a more senior role.  

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the nurse-led service, ensuring adequate occupational health provision and resources.
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, training, and support for both the nursing and admin teams.
  • Efficiently manage a nurse triage system to allocate referrals to the appropriate health professional within required timescales, ensuring Service Level Agreement targets are met.
  • Conduct medical consultations and case conferences, providing advice and recommendations in management reports, including onward referrals if necessary.
  • Offer recommendations for possible adjustments for new employees based on comprehensive assessments.
  • Perform health screening and surveillance as determined by risk assessments and relevant health and safety regulations, compiling detailed outcome reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide clinical supervision and training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage inquiries and interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to undertake detailed medical consultations and provide actionable advice.
  • Knowledge of health screening and surveillance protocols.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in occupational health.
