About the Role:

As an ECT of Science, you will be responsible for teaching Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that build upon students' prior knowledge and foster a love of scientific inquiry. You will receive tailored support from an experienced mentor and have access to a range of professional development opportunities to help you grow and develop as an outstanding teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and differentiated Science lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
  • Utilizing a range of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
  • Contributing to the development of the Science curriculum and resources.
  • Collaborating with your mentor and other colleagues within the Science department.
  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers regarding student progress.
  • Participating fully in the school's ECT induction programme and professional development activities.
  • Upholding the school's policies and contributing to its wider life.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on track to achieve it by September 2025.
  • A strong academic background in Science (relevant degree essential).
  • A genuine passion for Science and a desire to inspire young people.
  • A good understanding of the Science National Curriculum.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
  • Developing classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
