Your new companyJoin a close-knit, family-run construction business in Blackpool as their Finance Manager. This role has been created due to the significant growth of the business in recent years, and they are eager to find an experienced finance professional who will work closely with senior leadership to support them through this next phase, tightening financial controls, and taking ownership of running the finance function.
Your new roleAs a Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the business. Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. You will develop financial forecasts, provide variance analysis, and lead annual budgeting processes. Additionally, you will manage and forecast cash flow to ensure business stability, ensure compliance with VAT, CIS, PAYE, and HMRC regulations, and oversee CIS payments and subcontractor compliance. You will liaise with external accountants for year-end reporting and audits, implement financial controls, and improve automation of reporting. Overseeing credit control procedures to improve cash collection and managing the Finance Officer and Accounts Payable team will also be key aspects of your role. Providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities for your team will be essential.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have experience working in a similar role in an SME environment, with either a finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), or be qualified by experience. Strong knowledge of accounting software, particularly Sage 50, is preferred. Experience in construction finance is desirable but not essential. You should also be comfortable leading a small team, including the coaching and upskilling of the finance team.
What you'll get in returnYou will receive a salary of between £45K - £55K depending upon experience, plus a bonus of approximately 10% annually, plus a benefits package with private medical, and 22 days' holidays plus bank holidays. The company also holds various social engagements throughout the year, and has a friendly, welcoming culture within the team. The role is based full-time onsite at their Blackpool office, and the working hours are 7.30AM - 4.30PM, with an early Friday finish.
