Are you an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) with experience of supporting Cared for Children?

We have a fantastic locum opportunity in the Blackpool, Lancashire area, where you can make a real impact in children's lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with Cared for Children on your caseload.
  • Chair statutory reviews, including children placed for adoption, ensuring care plans meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to ensure coordinated care, in line with statutory requirements for Cared for Children.
  • Promote high-quality service provision and facilitate effective communication between relevant agencies.
  • Maintain the child's voice as central to care planning, challenging decisions where necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Adhere to deadlines and performance indicators while driving partnership working to enhance the child's lived experience.


To be considered for the role, ideally you will have

  • BSc Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Strong experience as an IRO working with Cared for Children.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal frameworks, statutory legislation, and guidance.
  • Ability to promote collaboration and meet deadlines while focusing on improving children's outcomes.
