This Health and Safety Manager role is pivotal in deploying a comprehensive Health and Safety strategy across both sites, focusing on meeting key performance indicators and achieving site-specific safety objectives. The role involves close collaboration with site clusters to ensure full compliance with legal requirements and the adoption of best practice solutions. Building strong internal relationships with stakeholders, this role aims to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of all employees.

The Candidate;

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Health & Safety management experience within a food manufacturing environment is highly desirable
  • Health & Safety management of large teams of 200 + employees is essential
  • Experience in a similar health and safety role
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with effective people management and process oversight
  • Proven expertise in strategic planning and risk management
  • Numerical and IT literate.
  • Proactive and dynamic mindset.
  • Highly driven and enthusiastic.
  • Must have flexibility for occasional travel to regional sites.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all site safety systems, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and serious incidents, sharing valuable learnings to prevent future occurrences.
  • Oversee all work completed on-site, ensuring contractor and visitor management aligns with safety standards.
  • Perform and validate risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and maintain effective first aid and personal protective equipment systems.
  • Collaborate with management to implement and promote Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices across departments.
  • Partner with HR to ensure robust Occupational Health provisions are in place.
  • Coordinate with Learning and Development to deliver, document, and enforce necessary EHS training.
  • Foster and sustain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with any updates to work practices and safe systems of work.
