My client is a well-established and rapidly growing construction business with a reputation for quality, reliability, and integrity. They deliver high-impact projects across the Northwest and pride ourselves on being a close-knit team.

As they expand, we're looking for a Company Accountant to join us on our journey - someone who's not afraid to roll up their sleeves and drive the financial operations of the business from end to end.

Your Role

As Company Accountant, you will take full responsibility for the accounts function and provide key financial insights to support decision-making at the highest level. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping business strategy and ensuring financial health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, payroll, and cashflow
  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial reports for the MD
  • Lead on budgeting, cost control, and financial planning
  • Oversee VAT returns, CIS reporting, and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Work with external accountants for year-end and statutory accounts
  • Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
  • Provide commercial insights to support tendering, project costing, and growth initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Part or fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or QBE with relevant experience)
  • Experience in the construction industry and understanding of CIS - highly desirable
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a dynamic SME environment
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and financial acumen
  • Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively with non-financial stakeholders
