Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class at a primary school in Blackpool. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN) to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for all students, particularly those with SEN.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Help create an inclusive classroom environment where all children feel supported and engaged.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including SENCOs, to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and track progress.
  • Support with personal care and mobility needs where necessary.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students to teachers and parents.
Requirements:
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and experience in adapting resources and strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting young learners.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with both students and colleagues.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
