About the Role:

As an SEN Teacher at this Blackpool School, you will be responsible for teaching and supporting students with a range of special educational needs across Key Stages 3 & 4 including ASD. You will work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and other professionals to develop and implement effective strategies and interventions that meet the individual needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the specific learning needs of students with SEN.
  • Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO, students, parents/carers, and other relevant professionals.
  • Utilising a range of teaching methodologies and resources to support students with diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Providing both in-class support and leading small group or individual interventions.
  • Assessing student progress, tracking outcomes, and using data to inform future planning and provision.
  • Contributing to the development and review of the school's SEN policies and procedures.
  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers regarding their child's progress and well-being.
  • Liaising with external agencies and support services as required.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student needs and interventions.
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Participating in relevant professional development and training opportunities.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEN legislation.
  • Experience of working with students with a range of special educational needs (please specify if particular experience is required, e.g., ASD, SEMH, learning difficulties).
  • The ability to differentiate instruction and adapt the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  • A passion for supporting students with SEN to achieve their full potential.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
