Yolk Recruitment Public Sector and Not-for-Profit is proud to be working with a Housing Association in South Wales to appoint a Management Accountant.

The Opportunity:

This a permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) opportunity, offering flexible/ hybrid working.

You will support the Senior Finance Business Partner and Head of Finance in managing the company's Capital Investment Programme, ensuring efficient and effective management, and recording of components, costs, cashflows, depreciation and impairment. To provide financial support to the organisation and to assist the Head of Finance with the delivery of an efficient and effective strategic finance function and delivery of the Finance Operational Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the delivery of the Finance Operational Plan and financial strategy which integrates with the Asset Management Strategic Approach.
  • Partner with the Assets Directorate to support effective financial management of the Investment Programme and to provide real time financial information to support decision making.
  • Manage the Fixed Asset and Component Accounting Function.
  • Create and maintain a robust system of controls, procedures, and forms for recording fixed assets.
  • Ensure accurate treatment of VAT.
  • Prepare detailed Monthly Management Accounts.
  • Prepare detailed budgets for the forthcoming year and the Medium-Term Financial Plan in partnership with relevant budget holders ensuring supporting documentation is provided.
  • Support the year end closing of the financial system.
  • Support the preparation of the Financial Statements including preparation of working papers and information for audit.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Audit.
  • Prepare information for external stakeholders such as House Mark Data.
  • Ensure compliance with Financial Regulations and Standing Orders by implementing and assisting in the review of effective systems of internal control.

Experience Required:

  • You will have excellent financial skills and be able to present complex financial information to others so that it is easily understood.
  • Educated to level 4 National Qualification Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Part-qualified accountant or technician qualification.
  • Experience in management accounts preparation, interpreting accounts and advising budget holders.
