Income Officer

Location: Cornwall- Office based, 5 days a week

Salary: £25,000 per annum (pro rata)

Length of Contract: 6 months

Our client is reputable Housing Association based in Cornwall, dedicated to providing high-quality housing services to their residents. We are currently seeking a proactive and compassionate Income Officer to join their team.

Job PurposeAs an Income Officer, you will play a key role in supporting tenants with their rent payments and welfare benefits, ensuring they have the guidance and assistance needed to manage their finances. You will be responsible for helping to reduce arrears and provide advice to tenants on available benefits and welfare support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively chase rent arrears via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings, aiming to minimise outstanding balances
  • Provide tenants with advice on housing benefits, Universal Credit, and other welfare support, ensuring they understand their entitlements and can access necessary financial assistance
  • Assist tenants with queries regarding rent payments, benefit applications, and budgeting, providing practical support where needed.
  • Accurately complete all requisite paperwork related to arrears and benefits, maintaining up-to-date records on tenant accounts and communications.
  • Support the housing management team with other tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in chasing rent arrears and dealing with debt management.
  • A good understanding of housing benefits, Universal Credit, and other welfare support available to tenants
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage sensitively with tenants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Driving Licence
