Job: Manual Machinist

Area: Bodmin

Shift: Day shift Monday to Friday

Salary: Starting at 30K pa depending on experience (15-16 per hour)

To produce components using large vertical and horizontal borers and mills, in accordance with drawing specifications to correct quality standards and to required timescales.

This post would suit a time served manual machinist with experience of mills and lathes who would be willing to train on larger machines. Full, supervised, training would be provided.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  1. On receipt of job pack, check profiles and raw materials are correct and fit for purpose. Ensure information in the pack is adequate to complete the job. Advise supervisor of discrepancies.
  2. Study engineering drawings to determine tooling, check materials meet requirements and compile task sequences.
  3. Set up and operate machines, following correct procedures and selecting correct tooling. Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  4. Select cutting speeds, feed rates and depths of cuts applying knowledge of mathematics and metal properties.
  5. Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments and fixtures using hand tools where appropriate, adjusting and cleaning equipment as necessary to ensure parts remain within specifications.
