Robert Half are pleased to be partnering a well known and established organisation in the education sector to recruitment a Management Accountant. This organisation is based in Bognor Regis and the Management Accountant will receive a salary of up to £44,000 along with other attractive benefits.

This is a varied role and would best suit an individual who enjoys getting involved with all duties within the finance function.

Primary responsibilities;

  • Lead in the production of timely management information for the central Trust. This primarily includes the monthly management accounts
  • Oversee and line manage the finance leads to ensure month end routines are correctly followed, this will include monthly accounting entries, payroll journal, bank reconciliation, accruals and prepayments, accrued and deferred income.
  • Assist the Director of Finance in maintaining KPI information for financial decision making, this includes staffing costs. Lead in the preparation of consolidated management accounts (Income and Expenditure account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Forecast, key performance indicators and summary narrative)
  • Working in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Business and Development, produce the annual and three-year budgets for the Trust, which includes all academies, central function and other business units.
  • Working in conjunction with the Finance Manager (Commercial and Fixed Assets) to ensure month end journals are posted for fixed assets and purchase ledger. This also include assisting with expenditure analysis and contracts management.
  • Take a lead and proactive role in developing financial tools to support effective budget management.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with development of financial models including Integrated Curriculum Financial Planning models and staffing models in order to achieve optimal staffing structures across our academies.
  • Working in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Business and Development ensure timely submission of statutory returns.
  • As directed by your line manager support the conversion of new academies by gathering Due Diligence and Legal information obtained from schools and assist with the set-up and data entry for the financial software.
  • Support the workings of the Finance and Audit Committee by contributing to meeting papers as requested by your line manager, loading them to the Trustee portal.
  • As a line manager, motivate and support the Assistant Finance Manager, and ensure all aspects of staff management are effectively carried out.

Key experience and attributes;

  • Hands on experience of financial processing and double entry book-keeping.
  • Previous demonstrable experience in the production of monthly and year end management accounts.
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of budgets.
  • Experience of compiling accurate, timely and concise financial information when managing challenging and competing deadline.
