Housekeeper
Location: Bognor Regis, Felpham
Hours: Part Time 20 hours per week
Salary: £12 per hour on weekdays, £13 on weekends, and £14 for overtime
The Role
The candidate must be over 18 years of age. As part of the Housekeeping Team and under the direct supervision of Registered Manager, the Housekeeper provides high standards of cleanliness and tidiness, causing minimal disruption to the residents and their care. To work on a varied rota basis as directed by the Registered Manager to ensure that the right provisions are available in the home. To respect the dignity, privacy, and choice of all residents and to treat them with respect and courtesy, actively engaging with them to create a stimulating and home from home environment.
To work 20 hours a week on a varied rota from 09:00 to 13:00, working alternative weekends. All members of their Housekeeping team are dedicated and have a genuine interest in those that they care for, creating a happy and safe environment within the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise rooms, including furnishings in assigned work areas.
- The ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness of the service and laundry causing minimal disruption to the services users and their care.
- Be able to communicate and engage effectively with the residents, their families, and colleagues, good interpersonal and working relationship skills are essential.
- Will need to demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision.
- You will use a variety of cleaning products, paying particular attention to COSHH regulated products.
- Demonstrate you can work on your own initiative and be able to maintain a high level of hygiene within the home.
- Promote communication within the team.
- Be responsive to call bells in the home.
- Maintain care of equipment.
- To be aware of the Emergency Plan and Emergency Procedures, including those relating to Fire.
- To complete all mandatory training and any training required for personal or professional development as determined by the organisation and its management team.
- Maintain residents’ and the organisation’s confidentiality.
- Comply with all the organisation’s policies and procedures and keep mandatory training and professional knowledge up to date.
- In an event of a Covid-19 outbreak within the home, you will be trained to use the fogging machine to disinfect the environment and equipment to maintain a good infection, prevention, and control (IPC).
The ideal candidate will be:
- Friendly and approachable
- Have experience in a housekeeper role to maintain high cleaning standards around the home, ensuring residents are comfortable, safe (Desirable)
- Whilst it is not necessary to have previous housekeeping experience, you must be able to demonstrate that you have a genuine interest in working with older people.
- You will need to have the ability to understand the needs of the residents, be compassionate and work well as part of a team.
