Information Governance Assistant

We are seeking an Information Governance Assistant for Bolton Council. This role is ideal for candidates with strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, and an understanding of relevant information governance legislation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Act as the first point of contact for information governance, addressing enquiries and providing administrative support to the Information Governance Team.
- Formulate routine responses and acknowledgements to correspondence and customer queries, ensuring follow-up actions meet corporate standards.
- Develop and maintain effective case management systems for information and data access requests, ensuring appropriate access to key documents and management information.
- Provide project support to facilitate the successful delivery of the council’s information strategy.
- Plan, coordinate, and organise appointments, meetings, events, and presentations for the Information Governance Team.
- Analyse data and present findings on risk, trends, and statutory performance indicators related to Information Governance.
- Support management in developing policies and guidance to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory information governance and data protection responsibilities.
- Maintain and update the team’s intranet and external web pages under the direction of the Head of Information Governance.
- Assist with other Information Governance-related tasks as requested by the Head of Information Governance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of relevant information governance legislation is beneficial.
- Experience in handling data and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Capability to develop and maintain case management systems.
