QA Technician


Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

Hours: Flexitime Available - Core hours (9:30am/4:30pm) - 38 hours per week

Location: Bolton BL6


Overview

The QA Technician plays a crucial role in testing, measuring, and analyzing products using specialized equipment in both the Analysis room and CMM room. This position involves producing precise reports on analyzed products and supporting production through ad hoc duties, including containment activities when required. As a QA Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring product reliability and quality standards are met.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze Returns: Perform detailed analysis of products returned from customers or the field, identifying defects and root causes.

  • Function Test and Measurement: Conduct function tests and measurements on new, re-designed, and existing products as needed by the QA Technician role.

  • Product Reliability: Ensure product reliability testing aligns with customer requirements and specified timelines, a core responsibility for the QA Technician.

  • Reporting: Produce clear, accurate reports for testing, investigation, and measurement purposes, a key part of the QA Technician's duties.

  • Equipment Inspection and Repair: The QA Technician will regularly inspect testing equipment and perform basic maintenance or repairs where necessary.

  • Documentation: Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing equipment and assist with Customer and Supplier PPAP submissions as part of the QA Technician role.

  • Supporting Production: Support the production department by performing ad hoc duties, including containment activities when needed, to ensure continuous production flow.


Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • ONC level or higher education in an engineering-related field, relevant to a QA Technician role.


Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), essential for a QA Technician.
  • CMM programming skills and experience in operating test stands, a requirement for aQA Technician.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills, critical in the QA Technician's day-to-day activities.
  • Fault-finding skills to identify basic causes of product defects, a regular task for the QA Technician.


Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience in programming and using CMMs, an asset to any QA Technician.


Additional Notes

The QA Technician may occasionally interact with customers, suppliers, and core teams to discuss investigation results and collaborate with the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
