Building Services Assistant

A Property Developer have a requirement for a Building Services Assistant to join their Estates and Facilities Management team for a new development with 167 homes for private rented clients.

Building Services Assistant role

Reporting to the Estates & Facilities Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure the general housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance (Estate and Communal Areas) is of a high standard at all times.
  • Liaison with maintenance and estates colleagues, litter picks, paintwork touches, general handy person minor maintenance activities.
  • Performing routine inspections of building systems to identify potential issues.
  • Communicating building service issues that require escalating to the Estate and Facilities Manager.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and emergencies within the building.
  • To ensure that data is recorded and captured to inform the Building Safety Report.
  • To liaise with any contractors on site engaged in works and arranging access including FM servicing.
  • Adhering to safety procedures and regulations when performing maintenance tasks.
  • To ensure the highest levels of health and safety compliance of the building and communal areas.
  • Maintain all fire safety equipment, ensuring regular inspections and servicing.
  • Weekly testing of fire alarms and drop tests for emergency lighting.
  • Accurate maintenance of records for the building safety report.
  • Assist in access for any service and compliance related work required.
  • Coordinate with external service providers and contractors.
  • Refuse management.
  • Ensure security arrangements are managed effectively.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience of overseeing on site contractors (Possibly SSSTS / SMSTS - desirable not essential).
  • Experience of facilities management
  • Experience of fire safety compliance
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good computer literacy
  • Ability to prioritise work and work under pressure
  • Must be able to work flexibly with some weekend work required
  • Driving licence
