Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced General Operator - Microelectronics/soldering to perform manufacturing, self-certification, and sub-assembly duties. The ideal candidate will be proficient in assembling and inspecting miniature components using microscopes, and skilled in soldering techniques for circuit boards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise assembly and manufacturing tasks according to established procedures, quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
  • Help streamline the flow of work and information in the manufacturing area.
  • Adhere in all activities to agreed standards and behaviours.
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements.
  • IPC 610 certified / trained preferred.

Tentatively work across several departments, these might include:

  1. Looming: binding wire looming is a cable assembly that efficiently distributes electrical signals by linking cables together using a crimping tool. (Ex; wiring, root wiring, soldering and fibre optics cabling),
  2. PEC and CCA Assembly
  3. Microelectronics
  4. Plastics Department (Ex; applying glues, cutting out intricate patterns, and moulding).
  5. Manufacturing Control/ Stores (Kitting, SAP, Picking goods inwards).
  6. Must be comfortable working under a microscope for most of the work.

What do you need?:

  • Proficient in dexterity for precise tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand layouts.
  • Adherence to instructions.
  • Flexibility to work varying shift patterns.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Completed ESD training.

Additional skills:

  • PC literate
  • Basic Microsoft skills
  • Microelectronics experience
  • Experience utilising a soldering iron and working with manufacturing micro-components
  • Utilised crimping tool
  • Experience using a microscope
